How to choose a candidate when voting

1. Choose a  leader that Honors God and his principles.

“Furthermore, you shall select out of all the people able men who fear God, men of truth, those who hate dishonest gain; and you shall place these over them as leaders of thousands, of hundreds, of fifties and of tens.” – Exodus 18:21

 2. Put God before money.

In other words, choose a leader that will honor God, over a leader that promises to make you more prosperous.

So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.”  – Matthew 6:31-33

We must put morality before money when it comes to voting. God cannot bless us if we are not honoring him. We may say: I’ll just make sure things are the way I like it first and then I’ll focus on God. By that time, it will be too late. If we focus on honoring God, He will provide everything we need to live.

Most of the politicians today are focused on money as the focus of their campaign like: jobs, benefits and so forth. Many people don’t understand that the heart of society is the family. If family values are not upheld then the country will be destroyed from the inside out.

People who do not share our values are freely using their right to vote. Are you? Are you standing up for what is right, and doing your part to put godly leaders in our country?

“The king gives stability to the land by justice, but a man who takes bribes overthrows it. “  - Proverbs 29:4

 3. Support Israel so that we will receive the blessing and protection of God.

“The nation is like a mighty lion; when it is sleeping, no one dares wake it.
Whoever blesses Israel will be blessed, and whoever curses Israel will be cursed.” – Numbers 24:9

 4. Choose a leader that will strengthen our army to protect what we have.

There may time that the nation(s) that we are indebted to will come collecting. And if that time comes, we need to be ready to protect our country. Whenever Israel was serving God he helped them fight their battles. He never told them not to defend their nation.

We cannot rely on other countries to protect us; we need to be prepared to defend our country with just our army. Above all, we must trust God,

5. Make moral boundaries a priority.

The Bible teaches that lying, stealing and murder are wrong. But some people might say that those things are right according to their beliefs. If they are allowed to express those beliefs, then it will go against the people that believe those things are wrong. It will create a chaos that is uncontrollable.

People might have different religious and ethnic backgrounds and should be allowed to express themselves as long as it doesn’t go against the law.

You don’t achieve liberty by letting people do whatever they want. We must abide by a set of beliefs and not change them for others. The founders of our nation did just that. It is by following the teachings of the Bible that give so many people freedom: slaves and women are an example.

“There is neither Jew nor Gentile, neither slave nor free, nor is there male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus.” – Galatians 3:28

We must watch out for the small things that will eventually turn into something bigger. For example: Abortion is murder of an unborn baby. First it was allowed under certain circumstances, now it’s slowly changed to no restriction. What can follow that is euthanasia, killing of disabled and eventually social selection. That’s the progression of sin, it’s never satisfied, and it only gets worse.

So when you are deciding who to vote on, don’t default to a certain Political Party. Instead, take the time to research the representatives in your area and find out what they believe and what their agenda is.

6.  Pray.

We need to ask God to show us who to vote for. He knows who should be the leader, and if you ask Him, He will help you.

“He changes times and seasons; he removes kings and sets up kings; he gives wisdom to the wise and knowledge to those who have understanding;” – Daniel 2:21

Prayer is vital to our survival. We need to pray for our country and our leaders on a daily basis, regardless if we like them or not.

“Obey your leaders and submit to them, for they are keeping watch over your souls, as those who will have to give an account. Let them do this with joy and not with groaning, for that would be of no advantage to you” – Hebrews 11:17

Lack of prayer is a large part as to why our country has become less God fearing.

“If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.” – 2 Chronicles 7:14

If we as a nation do not repent and turn back to God, we won’t even have a nation left to enjoy. We will regret having spent our time focusing on material things and being so wrapped up in our lives, that we let our nation deteriorate.
