Ballot Box2

Vote in the Provincial Election and build momentum

There are so many things going on in the world and our nation today that many of us don’t like.

If we just sit back living our busy lives hoping that one day things will change, they will – but not for the better. That’s the way sin is, it gets worse and worse. The Lord has called us to be a light in this dark world.

“You are the light of the world—like a city on a hilltop that cannot be hidden. 15 No one lights a lamp and then puts it under a basket. Instead, a lamp is placed on a stand, where it gives light to everyone in the house. 16 In the same way, let your good deeds shine out for all to see, so that everyone will praise your heavenly Father. “- Matthew 5:14-16

It is easy to procrastinate and say, “Once this, this or that happens, I will get more involved.” But in this society people are kept so busy, that it seems that day never comes. There’s a popular saying that goes:

“It is much easier to stay well than to get well.”

It is allot easier to stop something from starting then, to let it start, let it get momentum and then try to stop it.

God has commanded us to preach the good news, take care of the widows, orphans and the poor. If that is the case, wouldn’t he want us to stand up about the government leading our country? You may not be an eloquent speaker, and maybe you don’t feel like you can start some campaign or revolution, but you can vote.

God has created us as free will beings, free to choose Him or to do our own thing.   We have the privilege of living in a country where we are given the choice to vote. Let us make that simple choice this year.

If every Christian in Canada chose to vote, the change in government would be obvious. But many people believe that one vote doesn’t count, but it does.

If you took some time to reach out to every Christian friend and family member you know and encouraged them to vote, and they did the same, it would make a change in your area.

It’s the principle of momentum, it may take a while to get something started, but once it gets going, it will build momentum and it will be harder to stop.

“The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly.” – John 10:10

In Canada we have enjoyed many freedoms, the freedom of speech, freedom to worship freely, equalized rights for men and women and so on. All of these “rights” are based on the principles of the Bible.

Do you think the enemy wants us to keep enjoying these freedoms? Absolutely not. He doesn’t want us to be able to worship God freely and feel safe.

And maybe you might think that the changes that are happening in our nation today are not related to those freedoms. But let us assure you that, the changes that would be needed to take these rights away start small and seemingly harmless.

We need to be on our guard like we state in our national anthem, and fight to keep this God’s country.

It may not seem like as big of a deal to vote in the Provincial election, but each vote and change in the country matters, no matter how small it may seem. The government leader in your province will affect your community and your daily life.

The day for the Provincial election is June 12, 2014. Let us build momentum and vote!
